WRESTLERS MOVE UP TO NO. 2 IN NWCA POLL

The new ranking sets up a No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown at Williams Arena February 20 when Iowa comes to town to wrestle the Golden Gophers at 2 p.m. Plenty of tickets are still available at 612/624-8080 or 1-800- UGopher.

EGGUM, VEGA AND LESNAR TO WRESTLE IN NWCA ALL-STAR MEET
Three University of Minnesota wrestlers will compete in the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star dual meet Monday in East Lansing, Mich. Senior All-Americans Brandon Eggum and Brock Lesnar and sophomore All-American Leroy Vega have been selected to compete in the all-star meet.
Lesnar, ranked first in the nation at heavyweight, is 18-0 on the season with nine pins. He will wrestle No. 6-ranked Bandele Adeniyi-Bada of Pennsylvania. Eggum, ranked third in the nation at 184 pounds, will take on No. 1- ranked Cael Sanderson of Iowa State. Sanderson defeated Eggum last year in the NCAA Championship match at 184 pounds. Vega, ranked third at 125 pounds, has a 24-2 overall record. Vega will wrestle No. 7- ranked Steve Garland of Virginia.
