Roach got the inning started when he singled to left field. He advanced to second after senior Bob DeWitt walked freshman Scott Welch. Both runners moved up when DeWitt uncorked a wild pitch. After intentionally walking sophomore Paul Hartmann, DeWitt's pitch got past catcher Tim McIntosh allowing Roach to score the game-winning run.
The Pro-Alumni team fought back from a 6-4 deficit to tie the game in the seventh inning. Robb Quinlan grounded out to the pitcher scoring Mark Merila and Shane Gunderson singled to center field scoring Steve Huls to tie the game up at 6. Huls was the hitting star for the Pro-Alumni team going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Robb Quinlan went 2-for-5 on the night with an RBI. For the Golden Gophers sophomore Scott Howard lead the team going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Junior Rick Brosseau was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Earning the win and the loss was senior pitcher Bob DeWitt who pitched for the varsity in the top half of the ninth inning, and the Pro-Alumni team in the bottom half of the ninth.
