WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING FINISHES 23RD AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The University of Minnesota women's swimming and diving team finished in 23rd place at the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis. The Gophers scored 43 points in the meet, an increase from the 34 points scored at the 1999 meet, and improved on their 24th-place finish from 1999.

Minnesota scored in one event during Saturday night's competition. The 400 free relay team of Katy Christoferson, Jinny Smedstad, Jenny Hennen and Terri Jashinsky finished 12th in 3:45.36, earning honorable mention All-America honors. The Gophers had three relays earn honorable mention All-America awards during this NCAA meet.
