RECKNOR NAMED CO-BIG TEN PITCHER OF THE WEEK

SUniversity of Minnnesota first-year pitcher Angie Recknor was named the co-Big Ten Pitcher of the Week by the conference office. The Hopkins High School graduate shares the award with Wisconsin first-year pitcher Andrea Kirchberg.
Recknor helped Minnesota capture the Clearwater Parks and Rec. Tournament title this past weekend. She was 5-1 with a 0.63 earned run average in 44 1/3 innings pitched. Recknor allowed four earned runs and three walks while striking out 32 batters. She also earned shutout victories against Syracuse and New Mexico, increasing her season total to five shutouts.
Minnesota won its final six games in Florida to improve its season record to 16-12. The Gophers will next play at Akron in a non-conference doubleheader Saturday at noon.
