Minnesota's Corinne Nimtz ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 5,000-meter run at the Cyclone National Qualifier on Friday.

Nimtz's time of 16 minutes, 30.76 seconds was the second fastest in school history and ranks among the top 10 in the nation this year. In a fast race, featuring five NCAA provisional times, Nimtz was second.

With her qualifying time, Nimtz becomes the fourth Gopher to post a provisional effort this season. She joines Christine Gulbrandsen, in the triple jump and pole vault, Beth Howard, in the weight throw, and Aubrey Schmitt, in the shot put and weight throw.

The NCAA Indoor Championships take place March 10-11 in Indianapolis, Ind.
