MINNESOTA THROWS TWO SHUTOUTS AT CONCORDIA

In the opener, Recknor allowed one runner to reach base in the game on a sixth-inning single by Andrea Miller. The shutout was Recknor's 10th of the season, a new Minnesota record for first-year pitchers. Nygren hit her first home run over the left-field fence to lead off the second inning to give Minnesota a 1-0 lead. and followed with a three-run shot to center field in the third inning to extend the Gopher advantage to 4-0. Nygren has 13 home runs this season, one shy of the Minnesota single-season record that she co-holds with Shannon Beeler.
Hautala threw her third shutout of the year, walking two and striking out three. The Gophers scored the first run of the second game in the second inning when Morgan Holden scored on a wild pitch. Holden tripled home three runs in the fifth inning to increase the Minnesota lead to 4-0, and scored on a Concordia error to finish the scoring.
The Gophers (29-24) return to Big Ten play Friday when they host Indiana in a doubleheader at 3 p.m. at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium.
