NATIONAL STUDENT-ATHLETE DAY AT U OF M

student-athletesThe University of Minnesota men's and women's athletics departments will take part in the 13th annual National Student-Athlete Day on Thursday, April 6. The event was created to honor student-athletes who have achieved excellence in academics and athletics while having made significant contributions to the University of Minnesota and/or community.

Amongst the 12 hours a week in class, 20 hours a week in practice and time spent on the road competing, the Golden Gophers have managed to maintain high academic standards. Following the 1999 Fall semester, the University had 246 student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. In addition, there currently are eight student- athletes competing who have already received their bachelor degrees and are pursuing their masters or professional degrees and nine student-athletes with 4.0 cumulative GPA's.

The overall GPA for Men's Athletics is currently 2.81 and the overall GPA for Women's Athletics is currently 3.08. In recognition of Student-Athlete Day, the Offices of Academic Counseling and Student Services would like to say Thank You to all the Gopher student- athletes for everything they do.
