GOPHER SOCCER SHUT OUT BY ILLINOIS, 2-0

IIllinois scored two goals 24 seconds apart in the second half to shut out the Minnesota soccer team by a 2-0 score on Sunday. The Golden Gophers' record falls to 3-4-0 overall (1-1-0 Big Ten), while Illinois improves to 5-2-0 (1-1-0 Big Ten).
Colleen Joyce netted the game winner at the 63:18 mark off a pass from Lisa Baldwin. Emily Brown tallied the other Illinois goal at the 63:42, unassisted.
Illinois outshot the Gophers by a 22-14 margin. Illinois goalkeeper Annemarie Hennes needed just five saves to pick up the shutout victory in goal. Laurie Seidl led the Gopher offense with five shots.
Minnesota plays its first Big Ten match on the road next Friday, when it travels to Northwestern.
