MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES 12TH AT GRIAK INVITATIONAL

lThe University of Minnesota men's cross country team finished in 12th place with 353 points at the Roy Griak Invitational today at Les Bolstad Golf Course. The team improved from a 14th place finish last season and several individuals achieved new career best times.

The overall winner in the Men's Gold 8K race was Providence College with 104 points. Keith Kelly from providence was the individual winner with a time of 24:12. This marks the second time in three years Providence has had both the team and individual champion.

Sophomore Will McComb was Minnesota's top finisher at 29th place with a time of 25 minutes, four seconds. He improved his career best by over 11 seconds. Junior Joe Corr finished in 45th with a time of 25:15. It was his best time since running a 25:05 at the Big Ten Championships in 1998. Sophomore Luke Mullranin, senior Jason Owen, and freshmen Brent Loberg and Toby Henkels also earned new career bests at 25:26, 26:11, 26:26 and 27:09 respectively. Sophomore Neil Hanson was just one second off his career best time at 25:57.
