Bruun followed a 34 in the front nine with a 36 in the back to post a 2-under par 70 and tie Michigan's Kim Benedict for first place. Bruun captured medalist honors on a playoff, hitting par on the first playoff hole, compared to a bogey for Benedict. Bruun birdied five holes on her way to the title.
Two other Gophers added top 20 finishes, junior Megan Stier in a tie for third place and junior Cindy Cannon in a tie for 12th. Stier hit an even par 72, while Cannon finished with a 3-over par 75.
"We played excellent golf today and I'm not surprised at all," said Minnesota head coach Melissa Arthur. "The team is feeling the confidence and the belief that they belong among the top teams in the Big Ten."
Minnesota gets the opportunity to take its momentum into a home tournament next weekend. The Gophers host the Lady Northern Invitational at the Les Bolstad Golf Course on Friday-Sunday, Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
