GOLDEN GOPHER GOLFERS WIN SECOND TOURNAMENT OF THE WEEK

Schauman and the Golden Gophers won their second tournament title in less than a week, as the Djursholm, Sweden native and the team captured honors in the PSINet Collegiate Invitational at Dellwood Hills Golf Club on Tuesday.
Dating back to the NCAA Championships last June, Schauman has now carded scores of even par or better in eight of his last nine collegiate rounds. In those nine rounds, Schauman is a cumulative one-under under par.
Minnesota finished four strokes ahead of team runner-up Toledo in the 13-team field. Miami of Ohio was third, with host school Michigan finishing 12 strokes behind in fourth place. Lee Curry of Miami of Ohio finished second to Schauman individually, with Golden Gopher sophomore Ben Meyers</ a> the next highest Minnesota finisher in 11th place at six-over par 219. Meyers led the team in the final 18 holes, tallying a one-over par 72 on Sunday afternoon.
Minnesota plays in two more tournaments before the end of the fall season. The Golden Gophers have now won 25 collegiate events in the last 10 seasons, more than any other program in the Big Ten.
The Golden Gophers will be back in action at the Windon Memorial Classic in Chicago, Ill., on Oct. 2-3.
