andThe Golden Gophers held the nation's top scoring line in check, but North Dakota still managed a 4-1 victory at Mariucci Arena on Friday night. The Fighting Sioux remain in first-place in the WCHA and now leads Minnesota by three points. The two teams meet again on Saturday.

The game had all appearances of being a shootout as both teams scored on their first shots of the contest. David Lundbohm got UND on the board first with his goal at 2:20 of the first. The Golden Gophers responded though as Stuart Senden found Aaron Miskovich skating in on the left side and Miskovich put it past UND goalie Karl Goehring.

The stalemate lasted just under six minutes as North Dakota took the lead for good. The nation's top scoring line got its only tally of the game as Bryan Lundbohm scored from Jeff Panzer. The short-handed goal put UND up 2-1.

Travis Roche added a goal in the second period at 5:17 and Tim Skarperud ended things with his third period tally.

Adam Hauser stopped 11- of-15 shots, before being replaced by Pete Samargia. Samargia stopped all 11 shots he faced in the third period. Goehring finished with 29 saves.

Minnesota and North Dakota went a combined 0-for-11 on the power-play, but the Golden Gophers held a 14-6 edge in shots with the man- advantage.
