GOPHERS SHUTOUT AT MINNESOTA-DULUTH

The Gophers found themselves down 3-0 at the end of the first period. The Bulldogs scored on a power-play opportunity at 3:40 in front of sophomore goalie Stephanie Johnson in front of the Bulldog net. The Bulldogs added two goals, one at 16:02 and again at 18:40 to give the Bulldogs a three-goal cushion.
The Gophers were outshot 11-5 in the second period, but the two teams went scoreless in the 20 minutes. However, in the third period, the Bulldogs would tack on four additional goals to hand the Gophers the first loss of the season. Minnesota-Duluth outshot Minnesota 33-16. The Gophers had seven shots on goal in the third period, the highest of all three periods. The Bulldogs were 3-3 on the power play, while the Gophers were 0-1 on the day. Johnson ended the game with 26 saves.
Minnesota will look to avoid the sweep against Minnesota-Duluth tomorrow at 2:05 p.m. at the DECC in Duluth, Minn.
