The University of Minnesota women's soccer team handled the Minnesota alums, 4-1, Friday night at the Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.

The Gophers welcomed back former letterwinners Laurie Seidl, Dana Larson, Teresa O'Hearn, Amy Koehler, Gretchen Brandt, Erin Holland, Erica Kruse, Chelon Danielson, Kelly Shea and Megan Johnson.

Meghan Jones (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield) scored her first goal of the season at the 25-minute mark to give the Gophers the 1-0 advantage in the first half. The Gophers did not score again until the middle of the second period with a goal by Sarah FitzGerald (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) on an assist from Rachael Roth (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata).

Ginny Jorde (Baltimore, Md./Anne Arundel CC) found the back of the net twice in the match, scoring on assists from Keely Dinse (Saginaw, Mich./Nouvel Catholic Central) and Amy Khaleel (Edina, Minn./Edina).

With the clock winding down, it seemed that Minnesota had shutout the alums. Yet, in the closing minutes of the game the former Gophers got on the board with an unassisted goal by Amy Koehler.

"It was fun to watch all the players that I played with when we won the Big Ten Championship in 1997 and seeing them back on the field again," said Minnesota goalie Julie Eibensteiner (North Oaks, Minn/Totino- Grace).

Minnesota dominated the alums in shots, 26-7, and corner kicks, 3-1.

The next match for Minnesota will be Sunday against the UW-Milwaukee Panthers, at 1 p.m.
