The University of Minnesota women's soccer team was surprised by Purdue University on their home field Sunday with a 3-0 loss.

The Boilermakers came out strong in the first half, netting a goal just after the two-minute mark. Purdue closed the half with a through ball from Boilermaker Kim Comisar to teammate Annette Kent, resulting in a shot over Minnesota goalie Julie Eibensteiner (North Oaks, Minn./Totino-Grace). Purdue sealed their scoring with a goal in the final minutes of the second period, giving them the 3-0 victory.

Eibensteiner recorded four saves in the losing effort.

The Boilermakers outshot the Gophers 16-6, including a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal.

With the defeat Minnesota falls 3-7-0 overall and 2-4-0 in Big Ten play. Minnesota will remain at home next Friday to host Northwestern at 7 p.m. and will travel to Wisconsin on Sunday to face the Badgers at 1 p.m.
