joinMinneapolis, Minn.-University of Minnesota women's hockey head coach Laura Halldorson announced that Chelsey Brodt from Roseville, Minn., has signed a National Letter of Intent, today. Brodt will join the Golden Gopher women's hockey program for the 2002-03 campaign.

Brodt was an all-state selection her sophomore and junior years. As a defender for Roseville Area High School, Brodt helped the Raiders to an appearance at the 1997, 1998 and 1999 Minnesota State High School girls hockey tournament and was a member of the 1999 championship team. For three consecutive years, Brodt was an all-metro player from 1999- 2001 and was also named to the state's all-tournament team in 1998. Brodt was selected to the U.S. National Development Camps in Lake Placid, N.Y. from 1998-2001.

"We are very pleased that Chelsey Brodt has decided to follow in her sister's footsteps (Winny Brodt) to the University of Minnesota," Halldorson said. "She is a very talented defender who will make an immediate impact at the college level. Chelsey also possesses the off- ice qualities that are so important to our program: she values academics, has a great personality, works hard, and has a positive attitude."

Winny Brodt played two years for the Gophers and was a member of the 1999-2000 National Championship team. She was also named the 1999- 2000 Western Collegiate Hockey Association-Women's League Defender of the Year.
