GOPHER WOMEN TAKE 25TH AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Sophomore Darja Vasiljeva (right) finished first for the Gophers, 86th overall, running a time of 21:59, the second best six-kilometer NCAA National Championships time and the sixteenth fastest six-kilometer time in school history. Vasiljeva, who finished 49th, first for Minnesota, at the 2000 NCAA Championships, was an All-Region selection last weekend at the 2001 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships where she finished 18th.
All-Region and second team All-Big Ten first-year athlete Lisa Dyer placed 111th, second for the Gophers, running a time of 22:15. Running in her first NCAA Championships, All-Region selection sophomore Laura Bjork placed 133rd, third for the Gophers with a time of 22:25.
Sophomore Krista Anderson (left) finished 186th with a time of 22:54, fourth for Minnesota and her highest career finish in the NCAA Championships. Senior Victoria Moses, competing in her fourth career national championship, placed 204th, running 23:08. Junior Anita Menden placed 213th with a time of 23:14 and senior Amy Sas finished 227th, running a time of 23:33.
