The 1989 Big Ten Champion and NCAA All-American at 158 pounds, Gordy is the older brother of current Minnesota Head Assistant Wrestling Coach Marty Morgan. Gordy finished in ninth place as a member of the 1996 U.S. Greco-Roman Olympic team in Atlanta, Ga.
In only its second year of existence, the USEOC Greco-Roman team captured the 2001 University Championships team title in March as 12 of its wrestlers earned All-American honors. The USOEC is one of America's four Olympic centers but it is the only one that combines education with elite training. USOEC resident athletes are able to work toward a high school diploma or college degree while training at the Center. The Greco-Roman wrestling program was established there in the fall of 1999.
