MINNESOTA CROSS COUNTRY STATE CHAMPION SIGNS WITH GOLDEN GOPHERS

toMen's Cross Country Head Coach Steve Plasencia announced today that Faribault High School's Tom Schmidt, the 2001 Class AA Minnesota State High School League champion, has signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Minnesota next fall.

Schmidt won the cross country crown in a state championship St. Olaf course record of 15:28.8 for Faribault. Last spring, Schmidt placed second in the Class AA 800 meters in 1:51.82 behind current Golden Gopher freshman Trent Riter.
