GoldenJunior Jeff Taffe earned WCHA Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in the College Hockey Showcase last weekend. Taffe and the Golden Gophers will face St. Cloud State in a home-and-home series this weekend.

The Hastings, Minn., native collected his first career hat trick against Michigan as the Golden Gophers won 5-2. With Minnesota leading 1-0, Taffe scored a pair of first-period goals to give the Golden Gophers a 3-0 lead. In the second, the Wolverines pulled to within 3-1, but Taffe put Minnesota up by three again with his breakaway goal just over five minutes later. It would also be his fourth game-winning goal of the season and seventh multi-point game. Four of his five career multi-goal games have come this season.

On Sunday in a 4-4 tie at Michigan State, Taffe assisted on Grant Potulny's power-play goal in the first period. It would give Minnesota a 2-1 lead.

With 13 goals on the season, he has already surpassed his goal total of a year ago (12). He is tied for the national lead in goals with SCSU's Mark Hartigan.
