GOLDEN GOPHERS FALL TO HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS, 79-70

nigThe Harlem Globetrotters continued their success against the Big Ten, as they downed the Minnesota Golden Gophers 79-70 in front of a crowd of 11,875 at Williams Arena Thursday night. On Wednesday night, the Globetrotters defeated Iowa 79-76, in Iowa City, Iowa.

Freshman Rick Rickert</ a> and sophomore Michael Bauer led the Golden Gophers, scoring 18 points apiece. They were a combined 12-of-19 from the field, including five three-pointers. Bauer also had a game-high three blocks, while Rickert added seven rebounds.

Senior Dusty Rychart also had a solid game, scoring six points with a team-high 10 rebounds.

Minnesota led 44-35 at halftime before wilting under the Globetrotter pressure defense, falling behind by as many as 18 points in the second stanza. Harlem was led by Keiron Shine and former NBA star Chris Morris with 13 points each.

The Golden Gophers will be back in action Monday night when they take on Divsion II power Minnesota-Duluth in another exibition tilt.
