McCarville was dominating in the paint, hitting 8-of-10 field goal attempts and grabbing nine rebounds. The 6-2 rookie also was impressive from the free throw line, hitting all six of her chances from the charity stripe.
Three other Gophers joined McCarville in scoring in double digits. Sophomore Lindsay Whalen added 21 points, while Kim Prince chipped in 16 and Leslie Hill 10.
The Gophers? starting lineup of Hill, McCarville, Prince, Whalen and Lindsay Lieser shot an impressive 65 percent from the floor, converting 30 of their 46 field goal attempts. As a team, the Gophers hit 57 percent and drained a perfect 13-of-13 free throw attempts.
Committing eight of its turnovers in the first 15 minutes of the game, Minnesota itself trailing Lithuania, 29-26, on a driving layup by Kristina Kalesinskaite. McCarville scored all 11 points of her points in the first half in the Gopher rally, as Minnesota outscored Lithuania 19-4 over the next five minutes. The Gophers took a 12-point lead at 45-33, before a late Lithuania three-pointer sent Minnesota into intermission with a nine-point cushion at 45-36.
Minnesota expanded its lead in the second half, scoring 27 points of 17 Lithuania turnovers. Lieser hit a three-pointer from the right baseline in the Gophers? first possession of the second half and the Gophers? lead was never in single-digits after that bucket.
Minnesota won both its exhibition games in preparation of the regular-season opener on Nov. 17 versus Butler in the Gopher Basketball Classic.
