CURTIN LEADS GOPHERS TO 7-2 VICTORY

Junior Ronda Curtin scored her 100th career point with five assists for the night, leading No. 2 Minnesota to a 7-2 win over the St. Cloud Huskies at Mariucci Arena. She tied the single game assists record with five on the night, scoring on the first three goals. Curtin becomes the seventh member in the history of Gopher women's hockey to reach the 100-point plateau.
Minnesota (12-2-3, 8-1-2 WCHA) got on the board early as Noelle Sutton added a power-play goal at 5:30 of the first period. Senior co-captain Tracy Engstrom added a goal at 16:24 to put the Gophers up 2-0 going into the first intermission.
The Gophers would add two more goals from Jerilyn Glenn and Noelle Sutton to take a 4-1 lead after two full periods. The third period saw three more goals from the Maroon and Gold to raise Minnesota to an 11-game unbeaten streak.
On the points scale for the night, Curtin had five assists, LaToya Clarke had a goal and two assists, Noelle Sutton had two goals, while Engstrom and Kelly Stephens had a goal and an assist each. Kristy Oonincx added a power-play goal at 19:53 to tally a point.
This was the final game the Gophers played in the year 2001. Minnesota will return to action again, this time at St. Cloud State. Game time is scheduled for a 3:05 p.m. start at the National Hockey Center.
