CURTIN EARNS WCHA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

H Minnesota junior Ronda Curtin has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association-Women's League Player of the Week for her performance against St. Cloud State Friday.

Curtin, a defender for the 2001-02 season, had five assists in the 7-2 victory over St. Cloud State and tied the school record for most assists in a game. Along with the five points, Curtin had five shots and was a plus-4 in the win. On her third assist of the night, Curtin became the seventh member in Gopher women's hockey history to reach the 100-point achievement. She now stands at 102 points in 90 games.Curtin now shares the team lead in scoring with 20 points. In the 20 points, Curtin has 16 assists, which leads the WCHA.

The second-ranked University of Minnesota closed out the calendar year and will resume action Jan. 5 when the Golden Gophers take on the St. Cloud State Huskies in St. Cloud, Minn. Face off begins at 3:05 p.m. at the National Hockey Center.
