AThe Golden Gopher men's hockey team rallied for a 2-2 tie vs. St. Cloud State on Saturday night at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. Minnesota is now 11-1-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the WCHA.

After a scoreless first period, the second period remained knotted at zero until Nate DiCasmirro's shot beat Adam Hauser top shelf with just under two minutes to play. Jon Cullen's power-play goal with seven seconds to play in the period put the Huskies up 2-0.

In the third period, the Golden Gophers finally got on the board as Barry Tallackson put back the rebound at 1:42 of the third. On the power-play at 9:58, Jordan Leopold's slapshot from inside the blue line beat Huskie goaltender Dean Weasler. The goal was originally awarded to Grant Potulny, but was later changed.

Knotted at two, the two teams played to a stalemate for the rest of the period and into overtime. The Huskies outshot Minnesota 2-1 in the extra session.

For the game, St. Cloud State had 47 shots, the most given up by Minnesota since Jan. 14, 1999 vs. Denver. Hauser stopped a career-high 45 shots to preserve the tie.

With his 36th career goal, Leopold moved to within one of all-time leaders Mike Crowley and Tony Kellin.

The Golden Gophers will travel west to Colorado next weekend for a WCHA matchup with the Denver Pioneers.
