HACKLER NAMED BIG TEN SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

GeMinnesota's Jeff Hackler was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week, after the seven-time All-American won the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststrokes at the Georgia Invitational in NCAA "B" standard times of 54.83 and 1:59.16, respectively. The junior also swam on the Golden Gopher 200- yard and 400-yard medley winning relays. Both teams also posted NCAA "B" standard qualifying marks of 3:15.07 and 1:28.29, respectively.

The seventh-ranked Golden Gophers won the Invitational with 1,018.5 points.

Hackler, a native of Alpharetta, Ga., earned a bronze medal this past summer at the Goodwill Games in Brisbane, Australia swimming for the United States. He was also named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2000.
