HAUSER LEADS GOLDEN GOPHERS PAST DENVER 2-1

WCSenior Adam Hauser stopped 30 of 31 shots as the second-ranked Golden Gophers defeated host Denver 2-1 on Friday night. The Pioneers lost their first WCHA game, while Minnesota extended its unbeaten road streak to seven games (4-0-3).

Paul Martin broke a scoreless tie in the first period as he scored on the rebound at 12:46. The Golden Gophers took the one-goal lead into the first intermission.

In the second period, senior Erik Wendell skated out from the corner and beat DU goaltender Wade Dubielewicz far side for a 2-0 lead. Hauser stopped all 12 shots he faced in the period.

The third period saw Denver narrow the gap as Luke Fulgham deflected Aaron MacKenzie's wrister from the blue line. After that, Hauser kept the Pioneers off the scoreboard for the remaining 7:40.

In the final minute and with Dubielewicz off the ice, Johnny Pohl won a pair of faceoffs in the final 30 seconds to seal the victory.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow night. Game time is scheduled for 8:05 p.m.
