firJohnny Pohl scored a pair of goals as Minnesota completed a two-game sweep with a 3-1 victory over MSU, Mankato. Freshman Jon Waibel collected his first goal of his career to clinch it in the third period. The Golden Gophers have won seven in a row.

Minnesota jumped ahead early again when John Pohl scored on the 4-on-3 situation. The lead would not hold as T.J. Guidarelli knotted the game at 9:54 of the first period.

After playing to a stalemate for most of the second period, the Golden Gophers finally broke through as Erik Westrum's shot deflected off Pohl's stick and past Maverick goaltender Eric Pateman.

In the third period, Pateman's costly mistake gave Minnesota a much-needed two-goal advantage. Pateman roamed out from the net to try and catch a puck that deflected off a stick and into the air. He dropped the puck and Waibel sent it into the empty net.

Junior Adam Hauser came up big again for the Golden Gophers. He stopped 21-of-22 shots on the night and has allowed just eight goals in his last six starts.

Next week, Minnesota hosts third-place Colorado College at Mariucci Arena on Friday and Saturday.
