ALF WINS BALANCE BEAM IN TRIANGULAR AT IOWA STATE

Alf won her third balance beam title of the season, tying her career high with a 9.90. That score is the third-best in Minnesota history and the team's best since 1999.
Freshman Mary Skokut set a career high in leading the Gophers to a season-high 49.3 on uneven bars. That score is the second-highest in Minnesota history the team's highest on any event this season. The bars record is 49.350 set in 1999. Junior MaryAnne Kelley and senior Megan Skokut each scored 9.875, both season highs. Junior Megan Beuckens was just off her career high with a 9.85, while junior Catie Christensen set a season high with a 9.8.
Kelley recorded her fifth straight 9.90 on floor exercise, finishing in a tie for third place. Beuckens was Minnesota's highest finisher in the all around, scoring a season-high 39.1. Kelley finished with a total of 38.775.
Junior Courtney Norman led the team on vault, recording her second straight 9.8, a career best. Senior Shanyn Lancaster scored 9.75.
Minnesota had to count two falls on balance beam and scored 47.975.
The Golden Gophers will host the Cyclones on Saturday, Feb. 24. The meet begins at 7 p.m. in the Sports Pavilion.
