GOPHER SOFTBALL WINS FIRST TWO GAMES AT TRIANGLE CLASSIC

theMinnesota won its first two games in pool play at the Triangle Classic in Raleigh, N.C. The Golden Gophers (8-2-1) defeated Temple 11-2 in six innings, then edged Ohio 4-2 in eight innings.

In the second game, senior Angel Braden hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning, scoring junior Tammi Hays in addition to herself, to end the game. Freshman Piper Marten earned her seventh win of the season, pitching a complete game.

Braden was 3-for-4 in the first game, including two doubles. Freshman Jessica Green earned her first victory.

The Triangle Classic continues on Saturday and Sunday. Minnesota faces UNC-Wilmington at noon on Saturday, then starts bracket play at 4 p.m.
