sJunior goaltender Adam Hauser has been named national defensive player of the week by U.S. College Hockey Online for his performance in last weekend's sweep of sixth-ranked Colorado College. The Bovey, Minn., native stopped 50-of-52 shots over the weekend and joins senior captain Erik Westrum as USCHO.com honorees in consecutive weeks.

Hauser has experienced the best streak of his career and led Minnesota's stellar defensive effort against Colorado College, a team which entered the weekend averaging 3.82 goals per contest. He has won eight straight starts and in that span, has a 1.38 goals-against- average and .951 save percentage.

In Friday's 6-1 win, he stopped 29-of-30 shots and helped hold the league's second-best power-play unit scoreless on seven opportunities. On Saturday, he brushed aside 21-of-22 shots as he earned his eighth straight victory by a 4-1 margin.

Hauser moved into third place all-time in career wins with 57 and is the school's all-time leader in games and minutes played, saves and shutouts. If the season ended today, Hauser (2.35 gaa) would break Jim Mattson's 48-year-old single-season goals-against-average record (2.36 gaa).

The fourth-ranked Golden Gophers travel north to face Minnesota-Duluth this weekend. Minnesota has won nine games in a row and 15 of its last 17 contests.
