GOLDEN GOPHERS LOSE IN BLOOMINGTON

GoldeThe University of Minnesota men's basketball team suffered their worst loss of the season tonight in Bloomington, Ind. at the hands on the Indiana Hoosiers, 89-53. Mike Davis' Hoosiers held the Golden Gophers to just 27 percent from the floor for the game.
The Golden Gophers were down by 13 at the half (22-35), but were never able to come back. Indiana could not be stopped, hitting nearly 63 percent of their shots from the floor in the second half. They finished the game shooting 52 percent from the floor and 94 percent from the charity stripe.
Only two Gophers scored in double figures. Dusty Rychart was the only starter in double figures with 10. Kerwin Fleming came off the bench to score 17 points.
Indiana's Kirk Haston led all scorers with 21 points, hitting 7-of-12 from the field and 7-of-7 from the free throw line.
Minnesota's final regular season game in Sunday at 3 p.m. against Illinois at Williams Arena. It will be televised live on CBS. The Golden Gopher seniors will be recognized before the game. Legendary broadcaster Ray Christensen will be honored at half time for his 45 years of calling Gopher basketball, as it will be his final regular season game.
