BAUM, CHRISTOFERSON CONTINUE COMPETITION AT NCAA MEET

CeThe Minnesota women's swimming and diving team did not score any points in the second day of competition at the 2001 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, being held at the Nassau Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.

Katy Christoferson finished her collegiate career by placing 19th in the 400 individual medley (4:19:05) and 29th in the 100 butterfly (55.75). Christoferson earned her second top-16 national finish in her career Thursday by placing 16th in the 200 individual medley, giving her honorable mention All-America status. She is a three-time individual Big Ten champion and Minnesota's school-record holder in the 200 and 400 individual medley events.

Dana Baum finished 23rd in the 200 freestyle Friday in a time of 1:48.85. She finished 19th in the 500 freestyle on Thursday, and will swim in the 1650 free on Saturday.

Minnesota has one point as a team through the first six events of the meet, and was tied for 32nd nationally.
