GOPHER WOMEN'S HOCKEY TIES UMD

seMinn.-Duluth scored two goals in the opening period but the Golden Gophers answered each time and tied the Bulldogs, 2-2, Friday in Duluth, Minn.

After Minn.-Duluth held a 2-1 lead entering the second period, Minnesota freshman Kelsey Bills scored her third career goal to tie the game at 2-2 at the 16 minute, 2 second mark of the second period to end the game's scoring. Senior goalie Erica Killewald held the Bulldogs scoreless for the final 52:48 and made 41 saves.

Minn.-Duluth's Joanne Eustace began the scoring at 3:05 off assists from Maria Rooth and Laurie Alexander. Minnesota's La Toya Clarke answered on a power play at the 9:50 mark with assists from Ambria Thomas and Courtney Kennedy. Duluth scored its final goal of the game with 7:48 remaining in the first period when Sanna Peura scored with a two-player advantage off assists from Hanne Sikio and Brittny Ralph.

Minnesota (23-6-2, 18-3-2 WCHA) will face Minn.-Duluth (22-5-4, 14-5-4) in the second game of the series Saturday at 7:05 p.m. in Duluth.
