hGolden Gopher sophomore basketball player Ryan Wildenborg has decided to transfer from the University of Minnesota, hopefully to a school closer to his hometown of Kirkland, Wash.

"I just think it is the right time for me to make a change," Wildenborg said. "My two years here have been great. I have made a lot of friends at the `U' that I will have for the rest of my life. I wish [Head] Coach [Dan] Monson and the Golden Gopher basketball program the best. The timing was right for me to make a change in my academic and athletic career at another school."

Wildenborg, a 6-11 center, played in 58 games as a Golden Gopher, starting 17 overall. He saw action in 32 games this year with 11 starts. He averaged 2.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 10.6 minutes per game this season.

"Ryan has been an integral member of our program," Monson said. "He's a great team player who has done everything we have asked of him. Everyone associated with our program wishes him nothing but the best in the future."
