HOOSIERS SHUT OUT GOPHERS IN SOFTBALL

imIndiana junior Alison Cooke scattered eight hits and sophomore Stormy Hanson hit a two-run homer as Indiana defeated Minnesota, 2-0, in Big Ten softball action Saturday in Bloomington, Ind. Indiana improves to 11-21, 1-2 in the Big Ten, while Minnesota falls to 22-11-1, 1-2 in the Big Ten.

The Gophers outhit the Hoosiers, 8-6, but left eight runners on base. Tammi Hays had three hits and Morgan Holden had two hits to lead the Minnesota offense. Piper Marten allowed the home run to Hanson and suffered the loss, dropping to 14-7 for the season. Hanson hit her home run with one out in the fourth inning off of the left-field foul pole.

The Gophers complete their two-game series with the Hoosiers on Sunday at 1 p.m. (CDT).
