GOPHER WOMEN'S HOCKEY FALLS, 3-1, AT UMD

Courtney Kennedy scored 11 minutes, 30 seconds into the game off assists from freshman Kelsey Bills and senior Kris Scholz. UMD scored its first goal just 23 seconds into the second period, when Joanne Eustace scored off an assist from Maria Rooth. The Bulldogs got the game-winning goal just over two minutes later. UMD added a power-play goal at the 5:04 mark.

The Golden Gophers (23-7-2, 18-4-2 WCHA-Women's League) outshot the Bulldogs (23-5-4, 15-5-4) 43-33. Senior goalie Erika Killewald stopped 30 of the 33 shots she faced.

Minnesota, the WCHA-Women's League champion, begins play in the conference tournament next week at Rochester. The Gophers have a first-round bye and will face the winner of Thursday's Ohio State/St. Cloud State game on Friday at 7 p.m.
