GOLDEN GOPHER MEN'S GYMNASTICS DOWNS TEMPLE IN NONCONFERNCE ACTION

The nation's top-ranked all-arounder, Strother won the all-around with a score of 53.300. The Jasper, Texas native won the floor exercise (9.800), pommel horse (9.550) and finished tied for first on the horizontal bar (8.750) with teammate Todd Guilbeau. He also took third on the still rings (8.650) and second on the vault (9.100).
Guilbeau, a junior, also fared well in the all-around, finishing second to Strother with a score of 51.650. Guilbeau, of Houston, Texas, placed third on the pommel horse with a 8.800. Freshman Eric Steele also performed well on the night, placing first on the still rings (9.000) and second on the floor exercise (9.300),
The Golden Gophers hit the road this weekend for meets against Illinois-Chicago in Chicago, Ill., on Friday, March 9, and versus Nebraska on Sunday, March 11 in Lincoln, Neb.
