The Minnesota women's golf team will leave the snow and cold of Minnesota and travel south to compete in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational in Winter Park, Fla., next Monday-Tuesday, March 12-13. It is the second spring tournament for the Golden Gophers.
The 26th Annual Spalding Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational will be contested on the par 72, 6,031-yard course at the Tuscawilla Country Club. The teams will play 18 holes each day. Minnesota is joined in the tournament field by eight other schools: Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Florida International, Illinois State, Kent, North Carolina State, Northern Illinois and Wofford. Florida Southern, Indiana, Michigan State, Northern Iowa, Stetson and host Rollins College will have individuals competing.
The Gophers will put the same lineup on the course as in Minnesota's first spring tournament, the Midwest Classic: seniors Katie Bakken (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park) and Jenny Bruun (Crookston, Minn./Central), juniors Cindy Cannon (Big Lake, Minn./Monticello) and Megan Stier (Belle Plain, Minn./Belle Plain) and sophomore Karyn Stordahl (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna).
