BASEBALL SURVIVES INDIANA 4-3 IN EXTRA INNINGS

The University of Minneosta baseball team survived Indiana Unviversity 4-3 on a blustery Sunday afternoon in Bloomington, Ind. Junior Scott Howard hit a one-out, RBI single in the top of the tenth innning, scoring sophomore Scott Welch, to give the Golden Gophers the one-run lead. Howard's single hit first base and hopped over Gibran Hamdan's shoulder, rolling into right field and allowing Welch to score from second base.
Senior Jason Shupe pitched two and two-thirds innings of shutout relief to earn his second win of the season.
Minnesota improved to 5-2 in conference play and 16-2 overall. The Golden Gophers play Northern Iowa on Wednesday.
