MINNESOTA MEN'S GOLFERS FINISH 11TH AT THE INTERCOLLEGIATE

The Maroon and Gold shot their best round as a team for the event on the second day, firing a 288 to finish the tournament with a 23-over par score of 887. Duke surged from second place after the first day to win the event with an eight-under 856. The Blue Devils were followed in the standings by Wake Forest (861) and first-day leader North Carolina State (863).
Duke's Kevin Streelman used a final-round 69 to capture individual medalist honors with his seven-under 209. First-day leader David Sanchez of NC State faltered down the stretch, tallying a final-round 75 to finish in a shot behind Streelman at 210.
The final round was the kindest to the Golden Gophers as three of five Gold Country golfers turned in scores of par or better. Morgan registered his second-straight round of par while sophomore Wilhelm Schauman fired a 70 and freshman Justin Smith shot a team-best 68. Schauman finished in a tie for 26th at 220 and Smith placed in a tie for 30th at 221.
Minnesota next competes at the Fossum/Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday, April 28.
