GOPHER WOMEN'S GOLF TEAM FINISHES EIGHTH AT INDIANA INVITATIONAL

GopheThe University of Minnesota women's golf team carded its best round in the final round of the Indiana Invitational but was only able to move u p to eighth place in the team standings. The Golden Gophers posted a team score of 313 on Sunday, nine strokes better than their second round total, to finish with a team score of 963. Michigan State outdistanced its nearest competitor by 11 strokes to win the team crown with a score of 922.

Senior Katie Bakken was the only Gopher to finish in the top 20 individuals, placing 20th with a total of 238 with rounds of 83, 77 and 78. Junior Cindy Cannon recorded the Gophers' lowest round, a 1-over par 75 in the final round, to jump from a tie for 44th place to finish in a tie for 29th at 241.

Michigan State's Emily Bastel captured medalist honors with a 1-over par 223.
