HACKLER WINS BRONZE MEDAL AT GOODWILL GAMES

eUniversity of Minnesota swimmer Jeff Hackler scored five points as the United States defeated the Europe All-Stars 87-62 for the bronze medal, Monday evening in Brisbane, Australia at the Goodwill Games.
In the dual competition, Hackler placed second in the 50-meter breaststroke in 29.12 for three points. In both the 100-meter and 200- meter breaststrokes, he placed third with times of 1:03.32 and 2:17.41 for a total of two points.
Australia won the gold medal by downing the World All-Stars, 104-45.
Hackler earned four All-America honors last season at the NCAA Championships. The junior from Alpharetta, Ga. placed seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in 53.89 and sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke. He also swam on the All-American Golden Gopher 200 and 400 medley relay teams.
