10/30/2002 12:00:00 AM | Women's Cross Country
beSophomore Martin Robeck (St. Michael/St. Michael-Albertville HS) and junior Krista Anderson (Deerwood/Crosby-Ironton) have been named Big Ten Runners of the Week. It is the second time that a runner has received the award for both the men's and women's teams this season.
Robeck earned the honor by winning the Marathon Sports Run with a time of 15:59.2 and Anderson won the Minnesota Open in 19:22.2. It was the first time either runner has earned Runner of the Week honors in their careers.
This was the second consecutive week that a Gopher men's runner won the award after junior Andrew Carlson claimed it last week. Earlier in the year, junior Darja Vasiljeva earned the distinction after winning the Iowa State Invitational.
The 15th-ranked Minnesota men and the women are in action on Nov. 3 as they travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to compete in the Big Ten Championships. The women compete at 9:45 a.m. (10:45 ET) and the men at 10:30 a.m (11:30 ET).
