anUniversity of Minnesota and Intercollegiate Athletics begins its "Reading is Magical" campaign, starting Wednesday, 1 p.m. at the Prosperity Heights Elementary School, in St. Paul, Minn. The Maroon and Gold Impacting the Community, better known as M.A.G.I.C., has teamed with the school to start a reading program emphasizing the importance of reading and school.
Student-athletes from various teams will participate in the program monthly, and teach kids what reading has done for them and the role it played in their success at the college level. Trivia games, prizes and t-shirts will be provided to children who participate, along with an appearance by Goldy the Gopher. At the end of the academic year, there will be an awards ceremony, sponsored by the University Bookstores. For more information, contact M.A.G.I.C. coordinator, Mike Harrity at (612) 624-4314.
