Men's Basketball Ranked 24th in AP Poll

CoachThe University of Minnesota men's basketball team is ranked No. 24 in the preseason Associated Press Poll released Monday. The Golden Gophers were also rated 24th in the preseason ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.
Arizona is the preseason No. 1. Kansas received 14 first-place votes and is ranked second, followed by Oklahoma (six first-place votes), Texas and Pittsburgh (one vote).
The AP ranking is the first for the Gophers since March 1, 1999, when they were ranked No. 23. With this ranking, the Gophers have been listed in the preseason poll 10 times since the 1961-62 season. This is the first preseason ranking since before the 1996-97 season, when Minnesota was ranked 22nd.
