Cassie Busse Named to Verizon Academic All-District V Team

--> Minnesota junior outside hitter Cassie Busse was named to the First-Team Verizon Academic All-District V Team on Nov. 14. With the First-Team All-Academic honor, Busse qualifies to be nominated for Academic All-American honors, which will be announced at a later date.

Busse is currently averaging 4.09 kills per game, 2.15 digs per game, 1.03 blocks per game and 0.60 service aces per game. She is first in the Big Ten in service aces, fifth in the Big Ten in kills and seventh in hitting percentage (.317). Busse is also 24th in the nation in service aces per game.

This year Busse has won Big Ten Player of the Week on two different occasions. She was also named to the All-Tournament team in all five of the Golden Gophers preseason tournaments, and was the MVP of the Florida Atlantic Tournament and the Denver Tournament.

Busse is majoring in Family and Social Science in her junior season with Minnesota. Last season she was Patty Berg Academic award recipient and also was named to the Big Ten All-Academic Team.
