Darwitz and Wendell Earn Weekly Conference Accolades

recogn For the sixth consecutive week, a member of the Gopher women's hockey team has received weekly conference recognition. The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced that Natalie Darwitz has been named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week and Krissy Wendell receives the WCHA Rookie of the Week for their performance against then No. 7 Brown and No. 3 Harvard.

Darwitz had five points over the weekend, including a hat trick against Brown. In her trio, Darwitz scored a power-play goal and the game- winning goal, helping the Gophers to a 5-3 win. Against Harvard, Darwitz also notched the game-winner at 15:40 in the third to lift the Gophers over the Crimson, 4-3. It was her second hat trick in 10 games played.

Wendell had six points over the weekend, aiding Minnesota to a sweep. Wendell had a goal and three assists in the 5-3 win over Brown and had a goal and an assist in the win over Harvard. Wendell took 12 shots for .167 shooting percentage and had a plus/minus rating of +4.

The No. 1 Gophers face their fourth ranked opponent in the month of November, when the team travels to No. 5 St. Lawrence. Both games are scheduled for a 7 p.m. (EST) start.
