--> Minnesota junior Darja Vasiljeva placed 87th at the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championships, run in Terre Haute, Ind. on Monday. Vasiljeva was the only Golden Gopher to compete in the event.
Vasiljeva completed the 6-kilomter course in a time of 21 minutes, 10.7 seconds. She has competed in the NCAA Championships in each year of her Minnesota career.
"Darja ran a decent race but not her best race," said Golden Gopher head coach Gary Wilson. "She didn't get out hard enough and at the NCAA Championships, it's tough to make up ground late in the race."
BYU captured the title with 85 points, outdistancing runner-up Stanford's 113. North Carolina junior Shalane Flanagan won the individual title in 19:36.0.
