Wrestler Matt Nagel Captures Oklahoma Open Title

SatuUniversity of Minnesota redshirt freshman wrestler Matt Nagel (Frazee, Minn.,/Frazee HS) captured the 165-pound title at Saturday's Oklahoma Open in Norman, Okla. Nagel went 4-0 for the tournament and defeated Blaine Brown of the U.S. Air Force Academy in the title bout. With the wins, Nagel upped his record to 4-3 on the season.
Tommy Owen (Spokane, Wash./University HS) and Trent Hatlevig (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) competed in the 141- pound bracket for the Golden Gophers with Owen taking fourth place with a 4-2 record. He fell to Chris Bennett of Air Force, 6-3, in the third-place match. Hatlevig did not place, bowing out with a 3-2 mark.
Also competing for the Maroon and Gold was 125-pounder Andre Domingues (Santa Maria, Calif./Righetti HS). He went 0-2 with losses to an injury default.
